Job Description

Employee represents Silver Gulch and Provides World Class Extraordinary service by giving a 100% effort in delivering the best beer, food, and experience to every guest that steps foot into Silver Gulch's establishment at the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.

 

As a Bartender, you ensure consistent drink quality by preparing orders in a short period of time and in accordance with recipes and guidelines established by management. You will also maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area in a fast paced environment, while providing superior service.

 

Requirements

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • To deliver World Class service to each Silver Gulch Guest
  • To greet each guest promptly
  • To keep work stations, prep areas and shelves, bar surfaces, floors, and any other visible area that the guest might see, free of debris, dust particles, clean, and sanitary
  • To obtain an Alaska food handlers card 
  • To obtain a TAPs card and to follow all TAP’s guidelines and state alcohol regulations per service of alcohol.  Check all IDs. Does not over serve guests.  Does not serve more than two drinks to any one guest at a time.
  • To stock the bar with appropriate garnishes, supplies, glassware, and liquors.
  • To stock the beer cooler, and to keep the doors free of dust particles.
  • To follow correct hand washing procedure after returning from the bathroom, handling food, or eating
  • To be able to operate the squirrel POS system, and to be able to take payment using the squirrel system
  • To follow correct cash out procedures, by putting all receipts in order, and verifying the correct tips and payments on checks.
  • To check out with a manager before clocking out.
  • To follow the Silver Gulch Dress Code
  • To abide by the Silver Gulch Service Standards Packet.
  • Other duties may also be assigned


This Position Requires:

 

Minimum age required (21 years). The ability to effectively accomplish service objectives with a sense of urgency.  The ability to work effectively with a minimum of supervision or support.  Must be able to effectively organize people and service activities.  Must be able to balance multiple activities with an attention to detail.  Dedication to understanding and exceeding customer expectations

High school graduation (or equivalent) and at least two years of directly related food preparation experience.  Candidates must have the ability to handle multiple tasks occurring at the same time.

A current “Food Handler’s Card”, reliable transportation, well groomed appearance and good hygiene

Pass TSA background and screening requirements to obtain necessary security clearances; adhere to all TSA and airport requirements for concession employees.

Background position ranking skill levels:

Language skills sufficient to:

  1. Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, TSA guidelines and Airport specific rules and requirements, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  2. Write routine reports and correspondence. 
  3. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.  Mathematical skills sufficient to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, or volume. 

Reasoning abilities sufficient to:

  1. Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram form.
  2. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  3. Delegate responsibilities as well as the ability to work effectively with supervisors and co-workers.

 

Physical Demands:

 

Employees are regularly required to stand for long periods of time, use hands, reach with hands and arms, taste, and smell.  The employee is frequently required to walk, talk, or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to sit or stoop.  The employee must regularly lift up to 30lbs. Specific vision required include close vision, depth, color vision, and peripheral vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  The employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat and cold non-weather as well as moving mechanical parts.  The employee must have the physical stamina to work on 8 to 12 hour shifts for extended periods of time.
